How we’ve helped people like you

Peter, 22, came to us for help before starting university

Peter was suffering from anxiety and depression and was very nervous about leaving his parents, who were both ill. Our adviser, Jenny, listened to his concerns and helped provide relevant information regarding mental health support, accepting his offer, budgeting and applying for benefits.

Jenny also supported Peter's parents with a benefit eligibility check. As a result of our support, Peter felt much more confident about going to university and has now accepted his offer to study at undergraduate level. He also felt empowered to apply for benefits and financial assistance.

Sarah, 20, was a full time mum struggling with mental health problems

She contacted us because her relationship had broken down and she was concerned her ex-partner would attempt to remove her from the rented property they shared. She also wanted to know how to move from a joint Universal Credit claim to a single one.

Jenny, one of our advisers, listened to her concerns and talked S through her options. She signposted Sarah to information on her rights during a separation, including how to apply for a council property and how to make changes to benefit claims. S was very grateful for Jenny's support and said: "You helped, thank you. Everything has now been resolved.”
